The mission of the UND Alumni Association and UND Foundation is to retain and strengthen friendships made on campus by keeping alumni in lifelong contact, to keep alumni informed of happenings on campus, and to involve alumni in the ongoing growth and development of the University of North Dakota.

In order to meet our mission, it is necessary to collect information from our alumni, which includes graduates, former students and special friends. The UND Alumni Association and UND Foundation collects both public and private information about our alumni. The following policy indicates how and when this information is used.

Personal Information Collection

The UND Alumni Association collects information about our alumni and friends from various sources to create a personal profile including:

  • Information you send us, whether through correspondence, applications, e-mail, surveys, website registration and online information updates, etc.
  • Information we receive from our affiliates
  • Information we receive from UND's registrar office
  • Information posted publicly through media outlets

One of the services we provide to UND alumni is an online Alumni Directory. We administer this directory on our website, www.undalumni.org, and access is free to all alumni who register. The directory displays contact information including name, address, phone number, e-mail address, class years, and UND affiliations. You may restrict how much information is included in your directory listing. For instructions, go to Alumni Directory.

Personal Information Use

Our database is for the sole use of the UND Alumni Association and UND Foundation and its members. We do not sell, rent or trade alumni information with any organization not contractually partenered with us.

Your personal profile may be used for the following purposes:

  • To create content relevant to you
  • To alert you to site updates, new features and alumni-related benefits and offers
  • To make the website easier for you to use and navigate
  • To help you quickly access services or information on www.undalumni.org
  • To provide information from our benefit partners such as GoNext, US Bank and Liberty Mutual

If you choose not to provide profile information, you will still be able to use most of our website's features. However, you will not be able to access areas or sources that require profile information. If you decide to provide profile information, you will be able to select the personal information you want made available to other alumni via the Alumni Directory.

Use of Links

Throughout our Web pages, we provide links to other servers that may contain information of interest to our readers. We take no responsibility for, and exercise no control over, the organizations, views, or accuracy of the information contained on other servers.

Creating a text link from your website to our site does not require permission. If you have a link you'd like us to consider adding to our Web site, please send an e-mail to webmaster@undalumni.net with the subject "Link request."

Use of Text and Images

Sending us an E-mail
You also may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing a question or comment, or by filling out a Web form that provides us this information. We use personally identifying information from email primarily to respond to your requests. We may forward your email to other employees who are better able to answer you questions. We may also use your email to contact you in the future about our programs that may be of interest.

We want to be very clear: We will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary. Except as might be required by law, We do not sell, rent or trade alumni information with any organization not contractually partenered with us.

Opt Out or Change Your Contact Information
Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving e-communications from us through a special online form. You may choose to receive only specific communications or none at all. You may also update your contact information previously provided to us through another online form. You can not remove yourself from our database, but you can prevent unwanted communication. Please note that should you remove yourself from all e-communications you will not receive e-mail regarding any reunions, announcements or other events. You will still be able to receive user initiated messages from our website such as password reminder, registration confirmation or gift receipt e-mails.
