History Mission & Vision
The UND Foundation fosters a tradition of philanthropic support, leading efforts to raise and manage funds that secure a strong future for University of North Dakota and its students, faculty, and alumni.
The UND Foundation will provide the centralized infrastructure and services to support all private fund raising efforts on behalf of the University of North Dakota. We will act as the University’s designated fund raising organization, partnering with all colleges and units.
In the spirit of stewardship and fiduciary responsibility, we will successfully lead the University through campaigns to grow its endowment and secure a solid financial future that benefits the continued educational and economic development of the state of North Dakota.
1889: UND’s first eight graduates recognized the value of organizing to remain connected to their alma mater, dubbing themselves the Alumni Association of the University of North Dakota. A “development fund” was soon-after established.
1978: The UND Foundation was formally incorporated as a separate 501(c)(3) with assets of $1 million
2008: The UND Foundation has more than $200 million in assets and over 13,000 annual contributors
In the spirit of fiscal responsibility, the UND Foundation shares many resources with its sister organization, the UND Alumni Association, which adds to its efficiency and accountability. Together, the two organizations support all aspects of alumni activity.
